Initial biodiversity check

The river KLARÄLVEN current analysis and measures

Fortum is a leading energy company with operations in 10 countries. The vision "For a cleaner world" reflects the company's ambition to drive the change towards an emission-free energy system and with a continuous focus on resource efficiency.

Because Fortum owns large land areas at its facilities, the company asked whether there are ways to manage all that land responsibly.

Ecogain was commissioned to make an initial expert analysis on eight power plant dams in the Klarälven lower run. The analysis focused on the conditions for biodiversity.

The solution emphasized how Fortum can change the management of its land areas around the hydroelectric power plants, ranging from lawns to forest environments. Ecogain's proposal means concrete solutions to the ground that will make a difference. Fortum will increase biodiversity around its facilities. All in line with the UN's global environmental goals.
